With the recent Letter of Inquiry sent to a consultant regarding over a dozen of questionable applications, many in the LPFM community know the problem is bigger than just those few applications.  REC has compiled a list of singleton applications specifying that same person as the application certifier and the potential MX applicants they are keeping a channel from.

In other words, if the application on the left was dismissed, the applicants on the right can change to that channel from their current location (pending eligibility for second adjacent waiver based on location, antenna height, operating power and antenna type). 

On February 24, 2014, the FCC sent a Letter of Inquiry to Antonio Cesar Guel.  The Media Bureau is "investigating potential statuatory and rule violations and related instances of potential misrepresentation and and/or lack of candor" in connection with 14 applications in Tennessee, North Carolina, Nevada, Indiana and Texas.  

On February 7, the attorney representing Cesar Guel and Hispanic Christian Community Network (HCCN) has filed an opposition against REC's informal objection as well as various informal objections and petitions to deny filed by national organizations, local broadcasters, competing LPFM applicants and concerned citizens. 

In their opposition, HCCN accuses REC of using the IO to block HCCN clients in favor of REC clients, using the informal objections to gain new clients on a contingency basis and that REC's use of the informal objection process was inappropriate and that REC should be sanctioned by the FCC.  In addition, HCCN claimed that they were not served with a copy of the objection.

REC and Nexus Broadcast have teamed up to provide a full service solution for LPFM applicants and stations.  Under the new arrangement, REC will be handling all allotments and other FCC filing related services for LPFM, translators and full power applicants including those previously handled by Nexus.   Nexus Broadcast will be handling all sales of broadcast and studio equipment.

REC and Nexus are also in the process of expanding to serve the Canadian Low Power FM (LPFM) and Very Low Power FM (VLPFM) markets.

The FCC has released the public notice announcing the groups of mutually exclusive LPFM applications.  

LPFM applicants, both singleton and MX can now file minor amendments to their applications.
