REC open Letter to Rep. Maurice D. Hinchey (D-NY)

By admin | 3:00 AM EDT, Sat June 07, 2003

REC supports the spirit of the Reclaiming the Public Airwaves Act. REC wants assurances that non-commercial issues are also addressed.

Hon. Maruice D. Hinchley

First of all, on behalf of REC Networks, I would like to personally thank you for taking the stand that you are on the media ownership issue.

You appear to be one of the few who are not addressing strictly television ownership but also radio ownership issues. Unfortunately, unless you live in a remote Western community, then your chances of independent ownership of radio station is almost non-existent.

Although I am not a constiuent of your area, I do have some small ties to the Hudson Valley area, but this media issue is not just an Upstate issue, but is a issue of national importance.

LPFM Applicants Facing Competition Can Use MAX

By admin | 3:00 AM EDT, Mon May 26, 2003

The MAX System returns for an anticipated MX remedial filing/settlement window.

REC has been hearing information that the FCC is planning to start working on the MX (mutually exclusive) LPFM applications starting 'later this summer'.

In anticipation for any remedial windows that may open for this, REC has fixed up and reactivated MAX, the Mutual Application eXchange.

MAX is a community forum where LPFM applicants can move meet with other applicants in an attempt to reach settlement agreements by either proposing a new channel, a new location, co-location or timeshare.

At this time, we are not aware of what the FCC will allow LPFM applicants to do to remediate their applications yet. However, we would like to see as many applicants ready to go as the window may be short.

New LPFM Singleton and MX List online

By admin | 3:00 AM EDT, Mon May 26, 2003

Singleton and MX information now incorporated in the LPFM Scoreboard.

Information on LPFM applicants who face no competing applications but have not been acted on yet (singletons), applicants who are short spaced to other applications (other than the March translator applications) and applicants who face competing applications from other LPFM applicants (MX or Mutually Exclusive) is now available at the LPFM Scoreboard at www.recnet.com/lpfminfo.

New functionality in the Scoreboard system replaces the quarterly Singleton list that is issued by REC.

Anime Hardcore Radio/Hardcore J celebrates anniversary

By admin | 3:00 AM EDT, Sun May 25, 2003

This is Anime Hardcore's Third and Hardcore J's Second

REC's Anime Hardcore Radio is celebrating it's third anniversary this weekend. Anime Hardcore Radio was created Memorial Day weekend of 2000 as a format change from the old "Powerpuff-Hardcore" radio service. Over the past 3 years as many as 6 different services have operated under the Anime Hardcore Radio name. Due to increased costs due to the new royalty fees that now must be paid, Anime Hardcore Radio eventually reduced to the single feed that it is today.

In celebration of it's three year aniversary, the remaining Anime Hardcore broadcast, Hardcore One has switched to Narrowband audio. This change permits us to expand our music selection as well as provide scheduled programming.
