Retired legacy FAQ site moved FAQ to REC site
REC Networks has retired the old FAQ Knowledge Base site https://faq.recnet.com and has moved all content to our main website https://recnet.com/faq.
This move allows FAQ items to be searched using the search tool on the REC website and will allow for us to have better flexibility, be mobile friendly and improve the desktop experience.
NCE Preliminary Search Tool-initial beta
REC has released a new tool that permits a very high-level search (for planning purposes only) of the availability of new Class A non-commercial educational (NCE) FM stations in the reserved band (88.1~91.9 MHz). The tool supports a maximum of 1,000 watts ERP. Measurements are based on HAAT along the radial towards the undesired station and the HAAT and ERP along the reciprocal radial towards the desired target. The tool is disclosed as non-authoritative and does not replace the use of REC professional services that take a full contour into consideration.
Japan Earthquake Early Warning EEW2019 rebuild
Since the loss of twitter/EEWBOT around August, 2018, J1/REC has not been able to provide real time Japan Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) and over-the-air emergency alerting.
REC has obtained a new source for EEW data and we are once again providing EEW data. A new watchdog program has been built that monitors a RESTful interface once every 2 seconds for new EEW messages.

Gov't Shutdown: FCC Public File system not available, Station logos are not appearing in fccdata/denpahoso
01/04/2019 - 12:00 AM
Due to the Government Shutdown, the FCC has disabled the Public Inspection File system. FCCdata and denpahoso uses an API in that system to display a station logo on US FCC FM, AM and TV broadcast records. During the shutdown, those logos will appear as "not found" images. This does not impact the actual operation of fccdata and denpahoso other than a cosmetic enhancement. LPFM station logos saved in REC's Voluntary Public Inspection File system will still display.
Gov't Shutdown: NOAA NADCON unavailable
1/25/2019 10:30pm EST - With the reopening of government, NOAA NADCON has returned into service.
The government operated NOAA NADCON website which is used to convert NAD83 coordinates to NAD27 (and vice versa) is not available due to a lapse in government funding.
As a substitute, you can use the REC NADCON tool https://recnet.com/nadcon
The REC tool is not as accurate as the NOAA tool but is accurate to the tenth of a second, which still exceeds FCC requirements for coordinate entry.

Appropriations have been restored. Government open.
01/04/2019 12:10 AM
CDBS is continuing to flow through applications filed on 1/3 despite it not being a business day, Because of this, we have temporarily restored overnight and real-time updating so we can capture these applications and will continue to keep this functionality on. We are not sure though if CDBS raw data will update during the shutdown but we are getting minimal data through our CDBSBOT system.

FCC.today Mobile Edition launch
REC Networks is beta testing a new "mobile friendly" release of FCC.today.
Changes to FCC.today where the type of browser is detected and if a mobile browser (except tablets), it will provide a mobile presentation of the FCC.today content:
LoTW data update
Today, we have updated the Logbook of The World (LoTW) callsign list. This is a December, 2018 list officially provided by the ARRL. An LoTW indicator currently shows in the listings for US amateur radio operators. We eventually plan to expand it to include Canada (VE) and Australia (VK) and we eventually plan to take automated updates from the ARRL.
This list replaces an unofficial list last updated on REC in 2015.
