FAQ: With the collapse of the big radio telescope at Arecibo, do we still have to get coordination on Puerto Rico applications?

Select FAQ Category:

Per a message to REC from the FCC Office of Engineering and Technology, despite the collapse of the big radio telescope dish, a 12 meter dish remains operational.

Therefore, the Puerto Rico Coordination Zone remains.

Any new station or modification application in Puerto Rico and associated islands (not the US Virgin Islands) requires a letter of coordination with the National Radio Astronomy Observatory.
