REC Networks web-based services
(not including mobile apps.. see below...)
REC Networks uses IP tracking as well as general logging to assure the integrity of our network and to identify issues with our sites and applications. This IP tracking normally does not carry any specific identifying information on an individual. IP addresses can be cross-referenced with ARIN to determine the owner of a specific IP address. While normally this is an ISP or a company, individuals who have IP addresses registered with ARIN would be able to be identified by IP address. An extremely large number of internet users do not fall under this category.
Application Logs
Various REC applications, such as those used for our broadcasting databases may collect and store information regarding the specific transaction including the nature of the request (such as location, channel, etc.). This information may be used by REC to determine demand for Low Power FM stations but we do not disclose any details of any specific transaction. With the exception of IP addresses (see above), no user identifiable information is collected in this transaction.
Message Boards
REC may provide public message boards for the reception, storage and transmission of text and graphical messages. The message board software may ask for user identifiable information in order to maintain the integrity of the bulletin board service and to provide future customer service and support.
Participation on message boards are prohibited by persons under the age of 13 in complaince with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Third-party Cookies
REC may use third party applications such as StatCounter to track and analyize site usage. Currently, StatCounter been activated on recnet.com, fccdata.org, fcc.today and denpahoso.com.
Third-party services
REC may utilize some third-party providers for mapping and fundraising. Users should consult those privacy policies for more information.
Mobile apps privacy policy
REC Networks (REC) and Riverton Radio Project Association currently maintains two mobile apps, J1 Radio Official and Delmarva-FM (collectively, "the mobile apps"). The following privacy policy applies to both of these apps.
The mobile apps are used to provide audio entertainment through the transmission of live streaming radio stations including those that are also broadcast terrestrially in the United States and those that are available only on the internet. The mobile apps also provide text-based information such as news, weather, traffic reports, public transit updates, earthquake information, program information, music charts and music playlists.
In normal operations, our apps do not collect any user identifiable personal information. If, in the chance that we do solicit such information, this information would be used solely within REC Networks for the purpose for which the information collection was intended for. Information collected for this purpose will be stored on a server either operated by REC or our mobile app content provider, Aiir, Inc. (Aiir) Information collected in this manner will not be sold or otherwise transferred to or shared with any third party. Information no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected will be removed from the servers.
As a normal part of operating streaming radio, REC, Aiir and Torontocast may collect non-personally identifiable information, such as the device's internet protocol (IP) address and the times for which listening is taking place. Our collection of this information is necessary to assist REC in determining the approximate listening locations (city and country) where our listeners are located, for maintenance purposes and for the purpose of maintaining integrity of the network. Like with personally identifiable information, we do not sell, transfer or share this information with third parties. REC may, however, disclose aggregated information based on the listening data (such as how much listening to J1 comes from Japan). In these cases, individual personally or non-personally identifiable information is not disclosed to the public.
Any information collected is done only when the user is directly engaging with the app, including listening to a streaming broadcast for an extended period of time.
