Advice for Churches: Drive-In services

Despite the "stay at home" orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some states, including here in Maryland are permitting churches to conduct church services where congregants remain in their vehicles.  As a result, REC as well as other consultants, engineers, etc.

Emergency or not: Unauthorized broadcasting is still illegal

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and changes in our daily life activities, we are starting to see discussions and actual situations where unauthorized transmitters are being used, especially for makeshift "drive-in churches".

Statement of REC Networks: Postponement of Auction 106

"I did receive today's news about the postponement of Auction 106.  I do remain concerned about the current status of a future reserved band NCE window as well as a future window for LPFM applications.  NCE and LPFM stations provide a noncommercial voice and have the unique ability to inform the community from a hyperlocal to a wide area.  Despite the postponement of the Auction, the vacant allotments will remain and current rules require both full-service

Presidential State of Emergency: Information for licensed broadcast stations and those considering unlicensed operation

On March 13, 2020, the President has declared a "national emergency" as a result of the COVID-19 Coronavirus. REC provides the following advice to existing licensed broadcast stations and for those individuals who are considering engaging in unlicensed operation under the guise of a "presidential state of emergency". This article is the opinion of REC Networks based on analysis of the current situation and existing laws and regulations.  Note, that this was not prepared by an attorney and those seeking legal advice should contact a qualified attorney.
